Maltz Jupiter Theatre opened its production of Peter Shaffer's Amadeus on October 30, 2012. AMADEUS is witty, shocking, and thoroughly engaging & thought-provoking – one of the best written plays in the English language. As you no doubt know, Amadeus (which won eight Oscars, including Best Picture) was adapted from Peter Shaffer's Tony-winning play, which was itself based on a 19th century play that later got turned into an opera. So, also, did English playwright Peter Shaffer when he latched onto the historical rumor that Antonio Salieri had vindictively poisoned Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart as the premise upon which to build the play "Amadeus. Amadeus is a 1979 stage play written by Peter Shaffer, adapted into a film in 1984. Also in 2001, he was Ebenezer Scrooge in the seasonal “A Christmas Carol” at NYC's Madison Square Garden.
